Tharos turned back to the main display panel and whispered a command. The panel came alive and right before their eyes, a T-Rex lunged at them from what seemed only a few feet. Other dinosaurs were moving in the background and the earth was behind it all. Only, it wasn’t exactly the earth, that seemed familiar.
“We were here 65,000,000 of your years ago as part of a mission to study life forms on your planet,” said Tharos. “As you can see, things were very different then.”
“They sure were,” said RB. “But now..”
“Now, the Earth is a molten cinder, thanks to the asteroid strike,” Jack said.
“This last strike wasn’t the only devastating asteroid to hit the planet,” said Tharos.
“Part of that asteroid hit our command ship destroying it completely,” said Tharos pointing to the screen.
“The result of which left us without a way home and no way to actively communicate with Verdis. We were stranded on this outpost.”
“So you decided to go into stasis until rescue could be effected?” Jack asked.
“Exactly!” Said Tharos. “A beacon was set for any of our ships that might be in this part of the galaxy and we shut the base down and went to sleep.”
“Sixty-Five million years is a long time to sleep,” exclaimed RB.
“Far beyond what I imagined,” said Tharos sadly. “The fact that you found us here after all this time leaves me fearful for the future of our planet. We have no way to get home.”
“Maybe you do,” said Jack softly. “Maybe you do.”
